Private Pilot ASEL Part 141 Online Ground School

This course will cover the basic knowledge required of a private pilot to pass the Private Pilot Airplane written exam, and will prepare you for your flight training in an actual aircraft with your flight instructor.

To successfully complete this course, students are expected to watch all instructional videos and thoroughly read and study the provided materials. It is broken up into LESSONS, and each LESSON has several TOPICS. This course is self-paced; however, students must complete and pass a quiz at the end of each lesson to demonstrate understanding and track progress. After completing all lessons, students are required to pass two final, timed assessments with a minimum score of 90% or higher to successfully complete the course. Graduation certificates will only be issued to students who have satisfactorily completed all required training elements outlined in this course, unless specifically prohibited by the Training Course Outline (TCO). In accordance with 14 CFR Part 141, a student who graduates and presents a graduation certificate is considered to have met the training requirements of Part 61, provided the student also passes the required practical test within 60 days of graduation. If the practical test is not completed within this period, the student must receive additional training and successfully complete another final progress check before a new graduation certificate can be issued.

  • ENSURE YOU MARK YOUR LESSONS and TOPICS COMPLETE using the MARK COMPLETE button in the bottom left of each lesson and topic.  You must spend the minimum time shown on the TIMER in the bottom left of the screen to be able to mark the topic complete.
  • Feel free to work ahead, and even complete the entire course before you ever take your first flight lesson.  You can always go back and review later if needed.
