The Adventure Begins!
The leaves are changing…
Time for the Annual Inspection on the C170B!
The intensely busy Alaskan summer season is coming to an end and autumn is upon us. The days are actually turning into night after months of perpetual daylight, the temps are getting colder and the fall colors are in bloom. It’s time for Jon to make the trip up to Anchorage from Florida so we can get started on the annual inspection on “Lil Delta.” Luckily, it is a beautiful time to be in Anchorage enjoying the airplane noise at Lake Hood Seaplane Base and gathering tools and supplies to prepare for the big trip to the lower 48!
We dug out our puffy coats and wool hats to spend a couple of days in a cold hangar getting the plane torn apart. Phil, our IA, will greatly appreciate it if we get access panels opened, cowling removed and everything unscrewed to help make his life easier. After he carefully inspects, tightens, applies grease, torques here and there we will help put it all back together, change the oil, clean it up, wipe it down and then it’s time for the run up! The annual is complete.
